It is only if we talk about the visual part of the SDR, but also do not forget about the processing of signals, both at the reception and for transmission. But there is one thing to make it work the SDR, need additional devices, and it is primarily the computer itself, the monitor, and high-quality sound card. And of course the software to him and to the SDR transceiver. And it already entails certain specific requirements for knowledge in computer ham. What is not always, and not all, unfortunately present.
There is another a fly … If reception did not noticeable on the transmission, due to the specific audio signal processing in the computer, there is a large signal delay of more than 150 ms, which eliminates normal self-control operation in all types of radiation. It saves only the additional monitoring receiver or friend, who also has a SDR transceiver, which will record the received signal.
With the generation of accessible and easily soldered chip of the STM, the opportunity to develop devices that can partially replace some of the basic functions of large computers. Namely, the DSP sound processing and control capabilities and a graphical display of the display information of the transceiver.
As a result, we have developed the basic transceiver units , which eliminates the external computer. But at the same time to get comfortable on the service control capabilities, as well as the ability to display information on a large screen with an overview of the panorama of 48 kHz, the DSP processing and signal conditioning with all major modes. High-quality signal reception, high steepness of the filter with smooth customizable borders, automatic Notch filter. On transfer of the presence of the five band graphic equalizer, compressor, reverb, and most importantly, the almost complete absence of signal delay (in CW 5 ms, and in other kinds of radiations 21 ms), flexible settings, which allow to satisfy the excessive demands of radio amateurs.
In the near future, it will complement the functional ability to record signals such as the reception, and the transmission, followed by playback recordings through headphones or on the air during the transfer. It is planned to organize 10 recording channels, the size of which will depend on the size of the SD-card.
The controller can operate with analog SDR in the presence of an external synthesizer, which it runs with no problems. But to fully appreciate the beauty of this design only allows direct digitization of the signal (DDC). The DDC controller controls the radio link to the version for individual SPI bus, or via the DSP card on the main SPI bus. In the second control embodiment, there is a minimum coupling wires.
